Atom Reps Battle Hanover and Wingham in WOAA Action
The Your Neighbourhood credit union Atom Rep boys continued in the WOAA playoff round with two games this week.

The Your Neighbourhood credit union Atom Rep boys continued in the WOAA playoff round with two games this week.  The boys travelled to Wingham last Tuesday night and came up a little short losing
5-4 to the locals.  Wingham opened the scoring in the first period to jump out to an early lead.  The second period saw back and forth action with Mitchell getting goals from Jack Small assisted by Josh French and Dawson Dietz.  The next two Mitchell goals would be unassisted with goals by Rhett Terpstra and  another to Small.  Wingham would answer with four goals of their own to end the second period and take the lead 5-3.  Mitchell would get closer in the third with an unassisted goal by Vincent Voros but couldn’t get any more past Wingham’s goalie to end the game with a Mitchell loss of 5-4.

On Friday night on home ice, the Atom reps would play another nail bitter game this time versus Hanover.  Mitchell took a 2-0 lead with two shorthanded unassisted goals by Voros.  Hanover would get on the board in the second period to tie it up and would score again to take the lead early in the third period.  Mitchell’s Cole Hannon would tie up the game soon after Hanover took the lead with assist going to Jarrett Van Bakel.  Mitchell managed to kill off two late third period penalties and keep the game tied and force it into overtime.  Kody Eisler made a killer glove save and stopped a 2 man rush in overtime to keep Mitchell in the game, which set the stage for Terpstra’s thrilling OT winner with just under 4 minutes in overtime.  Assists went to Dietz and Xavier Lorentz.

Mitchell continues the WOAA playoff round this week with a game versus Wingham tuesday night and Hanover next Sunday.
