AE Novices Will Advance to the Finals in the Mitchell Hawks Cup
Home ice advantange has paid off for the AE Novice Meteor's in the Mitchell Hawks Cup this weekend.

Early action Saturday morning, saw the Dodge Caravan AE Novices opening up the tournament with a solid 5-0 decision against the Lucan Irish. In a game that saw the team working together to play their positions both offensively and defensively, Keagan Meinen earned himself a well-deserved shut-out. Goals were scored by Ryan Klumper (2), Wade Campbell, Payton Wood and Logan Verberne. Braeden Hoegy and Jacob Dietrich each played a great game on defence to keep the puck in Lucan's end, to secure the win.

The second game of the tournament saw Mitchell facing off against the Stratford T3 team, in another exciting match-up.  Jack Van Loon opened up the scoring at 8:17 with an unassisted goal.  Stratford would retaliate with 1:10 remaining in the first, with what would be their only goal of the game.  A back-handed shot from the hash marks by Max Hannon in the second would be Mitchell's go-ahead goal, and additional goals from Ryan Klumper, Ethan Jarmuth (2) and Hannon would round out the scoring for the day, in a 6-1 final.  Bradley Dearing would do a great job keeping the puck in Stratford's end, and Keagan was kept moving as he protected his net from the relentless shots he received from Stratford.

The Meteors advanced to the semi-finals against the evenly matched team from Strathroy on Sunday morning.  Strathroy came out strong, by finding the back of Mitchell's net at 9:24 in the first. Mitchell would answer to even up the score when Ethan Jarmuth dug the puck out from a scramble out in front.  A second unassisted goal would come from Jarmuth when he deeked through Strathroy's defence at 1:14 in the first. Ryan Glauser had several great scoring opportunities in front that left Strathroy's goalie working all sides to protect his net. Pressure from Strathroy would keep the Meteor's defence on their A-game, but Elijah Bender, Jacob Dietrich, and Jack Van Loon were ready and stood tall to protect their end.  Keagan did an outstanding job as he held the Meteor's to a 2-1 victory, advancing the AE Novices to the finals!

The final game of the tournament will see the Dodge Caravan AE Novices facing-off at 4:30 this afternoon.  Way to make us all proud boys!
