Midgets stunned in final minute of deciding game
Heartbreak is the only way to describe the Game 5 defeat Sunday, Jan. 25 by the Terry’s Auto Service Midgets.
Up 3-2 in the late stages of the deciding game of their hard-fought ‘CC’ series, Minto scored goals 28-seconds apart in the final minute to stun their hosts and steal a 4-3 win and claim the series.

Evan Chaffe – on a shorthanded break - Jake Shuker and Tyler Smith scored for Mitchell, as the clubs were tied 1-1 and 2-2 at the intermission breaks in the intense battle.
Smith’s marker with just over six minutes left broke the tie but didn’t stand up, as the Mad Dogs capitalized on their chances, including the game-winner when the puck found its way right on the Minto forward's stick in the slot and an open net to greet him. He made no mistake.
In Game 4 last Wednesday, Jan. 21 in Harriston, two shorthanded markers by the home side was enough for Minto to down the locals, 4-1. Jordan Mabb’s power play goal, on a two-man advantage, was the lone marker in the loss and cut the deficit to 2-1 at the time, but Minto scored shorthanded shortly thereafter to restore their two-goal edge.
Minto now plays BCH in the OMHA 'CC' playoffs, while Mitchell has WOAA Cruickshank League playoffs to finish, a home-and-home series with both Saugeen Shores and Goderich.
