Back-to-back shutouts put Meteors in lead
Dan Skinner was sharp in net as the Mitchell Midget Meteors recorded their second straight shutout Monday, Jan. 19, defeating the visiting Minto Mad Dogs 2-0 to take a 2-1 series lead in their best-of-five (six-point) opening OMHA 'CC' playoff series.
Jake Shuker's goal with under five minutes left in the second period, on a perfect set-up from center Kevin Rops, was the only goal the Meteors would need as tight defensive play continued to be their focus.
Jared Sykes tapped in a loose puck after Devon Schinbein broke in for a glorious chance early in the third to add some insurance.
Game 4 will take place in Harriston Wed. Jan. 21 at 9 p.m. If Minto survives, Game 5 will be played Sunday, Jan. 25 in Mitchell at 9 p.m.
