Tight defence lifts Midgets
Despite averaging one goal in each of their last four games, the Terry's Auto Service Midgets have lost just once over that span.
Their third game in four nights didn't seem to faze the Midgets Monday as they got a first period marker from Devon Schinbein who made no mistake on his partial breakaway for the only goal the Meteors would need in a 1-0 win over visiting Chatsworth.
Tyler Smith made a dandy cross-ice pass to spring Schinbein who blasted the puck home.
Tyler Meinen recorded his first shutout of the season and earned it, looking confident and steady between the pipes.

In Listowel Sunday, Evan Chaffe's shorthanded goal late in the first looked to be enough, thanks to the goaltending of Dan Skinner and the solid defensive effort in front of him, but Listowel tied it with the man advantage five minutes into the final frame.
In Teeswater Friday against South Bruce, just nine skaters (including two bantam call-ups) put in a yeoman’s effort in a 1-1 tie. The home side scored in the first period but after a scoreless second, Kevin Rops scored the equalizer in the third. Mitchell, despite being shortstaffed (including just three defencemen), also had to kill a double minor to close the game and keep it deadlocked.
Meinen again gave a strong effort between the pipes.

These efforts were much better than it was last Wednesday, Dec. 10 when Mitchell was dumped 5-1 by Mount Forest in an exhibition game. Mitchell trailed 1-0 and 4-0 at the intermission breaks. Brett DeJong replied in the loss.
