Midgets doubled in Harriston
The Terry's Auto Service Midgets hoped to use their league match in Harriston Wednesday, Nov. 12 against Minto as a tune-up for the Regional Silver Stick tournament in Wingham.

But despite opening a 2-0 first period thanks to goals from Evan Chaffe and Devon Schinbein 65-seconds apart before the game was six minutes old, things collapsed in the second when their hosts exploded for five unanswered goals in the middle period to take a 5-2 lead and cruise to a 6-3 win.
Tyler Smith's power play goal - a blast from the point through a screen - late in the second brought Mitchell within two goals, but an inconsistent, sloppy and erratic third period could not generate enough offense. Minto capped the scoring in the dying seconds on a giveaway.
Meanwhile, powerplay goals 37-seconds apart late in the second period was enough for the Midgets to overcome a 1-0 deficit to visiting South Bruce and give the locals a 3-1 win Monday, Nov. 3.
Jordan Mabb’s one-timer from the point with a two-man advantage tied the game, but Chaffe’s marker was the winner in the final minute of the middle period. Jake Shuker added some insurance with just over four minutes to play in the third.
In the Wingham Regional Silver Stick tournament next week, the Meteors open round-robin play next Monday, Nov. 17 against Mount Forest at 9 p.m., then take on Kincardine the next night, also at 9 p.m. They complete round-robin action on Saturday, Nov. 22 in Blyth against Tavistock at 10:45 a.m.
