B&S Construction Bantam Girls Rep team participated in the Pink the Rink tournament in Exeter January 9 and 10th.

The Meteors knew they were up for stiff competition this weekend, facing the top 3 teams in their LLFHL division.

Their first game was against South Huron Sabres in Zurich.
South Huron opened the scoring late into the 1st period, they then scored again 3 minutes into the 2nd period and tacked on another in the 2nd.
Mitchell got on the board when Lyric Huygen fed a break away pass to Victoria Hahn to get the puck into the net.
South Huron then scored again in the 3rd period bring the final score 4-1.

Game 2 saw the Meteors face the Wilmot Wolverines at the Hensall arena.
Mitchell played strong defensive hockey during the 1st period and goalie Julia Cairns turned away many shots until Wilmot scored their first goal of the game with 45 seconds left in the period. They then added 1 goal in each of the remaining periods to shut out Mitchell. Cairns remained busy and turned away many shots on goal. The final score was 3-0 Wilmot.

In game 3, Mitchell faced the Lucan Irish at Stephen Township Arena.
Lucan opened the scoring in the first period with 2 quick goals. Both goalies turned away all shots in the 2nd. Lucan went ahead by 3 in the third period before Mitchell gets on the board when Ally Zimmerman scored, assisted by Sarah Skinner. Lucan added another goal and Bre Schoonderwoerd responded with help from Huygen and Robyn Lewis. With 2 minutes remaining the Meteors added another attacker when when goalie Cairns was pulled. The Irish scored several times into the empty net bringing the score to 9-2.

Since there were only 4 teams in the Bantam B pool, Mitchell advanced to the semi finals where they once again faced the South Huron Sabres.
The Sabres opened the scoring at the 4:40 mark of the 1st period. Despite Mitchell driving to the net in the first 2 periods, they were unable to score until the 3rd period when Olivia Boyce got the puck past the Sabre`s goalie. South Huron scored their second goal of the game in the 3rd period, finally getting another past netminder Cairns, who stopped many pucks during the entire game. Even though the final score was 2-1, the Meteors played their hearts out and turned in their best effort of the season.

This week sees the Meteors travel to Waterloo to face the Wolves on Friday Jan 16 at the Waterloo Memorial Complex at 8pm.
