League Round Robin round-up
While waiting for the OHMA League finals to be scheduled, our Meteors had time to squeeze in the final round robin games to finish off league play in back to back weeknight games.

Game vs Minto Mad Dogs

Past games vs Minto had all been close this season (or tied), so once again it was going to be important to come out quick.  Both teams were keen to play and other than a couple of unproductive powerplays by either team, there would be nothing added to the scoreboard in the opening 10 minutes of play.  Early in the 2nd, Mitchell's offensive play generated some quality scoring opportunities that were turned aside yet again.  But 3 minutes in , MacArthur took a pass from MacLean & went to the net where he buried his own rebound for a one goal lead.  Five minutes later it was Minto's turn as they evened things up at one heading into the 3rd period.  After the flood the Mad Dogs came out flying and generated some good chances that were stoned by Duncan.  Mid-way through the period Mitchell found themselves on the powerplay and Ramseyer fired the puck towareds the net where Vogels & Schoonderwoerd teamed up to bury the loose puck for a one-goal lead.  Minto continued to bring intensity to the game but the three man defense squad stood their ground while Duncan sealed the net with the help of a couple posts to hold on for a 2-1 win.

Game vs Listowel Cyclones

Tonight Mitchell had to head north again to face the squad from Listowel in our 6th round robin game of league play.  As was the case in Harriston the night before, our boys played well right from the start with nothing to show for on the score board after the initial 10 minutes of play. Solid play from all three forward lines and all three defensemen (poor Fenner was still resting on his final day off) kept the pressure on and away from the Meteor end for much of the opening period.  But less than a minute into the 2nd frame it was MacLean who moved the puck back up to Schoonderwoerd to wrap it around and into the net to open the scoring.  Five minutes later it was a quick shot from Murray that created a juicy rebound for Eidt to jump on and bury for a two goal lead.  As time was ticking down Murray jumped on a loose puck and skated over the blue line where he snapped a beauty by the Cyclone keeper for a 3 goal lead.  The flood brought new life to the home team and less than two minutes in there was a blast from the point that ripped though everyone and cut Mitchell's lead by one.  But our boys held tight and kept the pressure on.  Once again Duncan stood tall when called upon and team play was credited for the Meteor's success.

Good games boys!

Now we wait for the rest of the round robin games to be played to find out who moves on for League finals and still have to wait for the Final OMHA Series to be scheduled versus Schomberg.
