Atom AE boys Heading to the Provincial Finals!!
The Meteors came out to win today and played an impressive game to defeat the Douro Dukes obtaining the final points needed to move on to the Provincial Finals!
The boys came out a little slow but didn't let Douro get the upper hand. As with every game in this series, it was end to end with many great chances by both sides. Greg Reidy played another strong game in net for the Meteors shutting the door time and time again. The lone goal came near the end of the second period when Kyle Eisler scored on a power play goal with the help of some nice passing by Drew Scherbarth and Joey Adam who both earned the assists. A few more goals would have calmed the nerves of the parents, but the boys were unable to capitalize on many great chances and now move on to the finals with this 1-0 win.
To say this game was a nail biter doesn't even begin to describe the atmosphere in the stands from the beginning to the end. The boys, came out with such heart after being in control of the series, then losing complete control and being blown away 7-1 in Douro, to fighting back and winning this series. After a tough road trip, they regrouped and came out fighting. Each of these boys played a huge role in every game played against the Douro Dukes and all should be proud of their efforts. Goalies Charlie Wood and Greg Reidy, Drew Scherbarth, Matthew Crawford, Tanner Meinen, Kyle Eisler, Josh Eidt, Evan MacArthur, Kurtis DeJong, Denzyl Finlayson, Darren Feltz, Brett Poirier, Joey Adam, Curtis Chaffe, Sam Snyders and Will Steinbach, you all deserve a huge congratulations on an amazing series.
