Mitchell battles Belmont
The Mitchell novice girls travelled to Belmont Sunday morning to battle Belmont.
The two teams squared off, evenly matched to end up with a 3 to 3 tie at the end.
Claire opened up the scoring with a goal in the first period, assisted by hardworking defensemen Alia. Mitchell worked hard and was able to hold their own throughout the first and second period. Lauren added an unassisted goal in the second, making it a 2 to 0 lead going into the third period.
Shawni once again proved herself in the net, deflecting shots. Somehow Belmont figured out how to get some past us as they scored two times in the third period. Jordyn had a beautiful break away, she skated up center ice to fire off a hard shot at their goalie that found the back of the net. Fantastic work!
Unfortunately, Belmont scored once more with a soft shot near the end of the third period to tie up the game.
