Novice AE WOAA Champions
The Dodge Caravan Kids Novice AE defeated the BCH Ice Dogs on Saturday afternoon to bring home the championship in the WOAA Novice Jacobi division.

Just as the regular season rolled out the playoffs would prove to be the same, as it was a back and forth match against BCH in the finals.  Mitchell took the first game of the series with BCH answering back winning the next two in Clinton.  Back on home ice for game 4 Mitchell was able to pull it together for a 3-2 win on Friday evening.  BCH grabbed an early lead scoring in the first, but Xavier Lorentz answered back in the second period assisted by Jack Small and Vincent Voros. With a tie game deep into the third period, Josh French was able to net one giving Mitchell the first lead of the game.  Just less than a minute later Lucas Roobroeck battled hard in front of the net to pound in Mitchell’s third goal. BCH would answer one back late in the third, but Mitchell was not willing to give up this win or their season.

With the finals tied back up it turned the series into a one game winner take all.

The Meteors would take on the Ice Dogs one more time for game 5 on home ice.  It was loud, the fans were tense, but the boys were ready.   Jarrett Van Bakel would get the team off to a good start finding the net in the first period on a pass from Small.  In the second period, James McCarthy buried one to the back of the net on a perfect pass from Roobroeck.   Defensemen Preston Porter would also find the net to give the team some more assurance.  Heading into the third period Mitchell was up by three.  Voros did what he does best and added a fourth goal on an assist from Lorentz.  BCH continued fighting and grabbed a goal midway through the third but had a hard time getting past the strong defense of Porter, Brock Boville, Daniel Ogilvie, and Evan O’Rourke.  With that solid blueline crew and some smart offensive play by Caleb Templeman, French, McCarthy and the rest of the offensive lineup, both along the boards and in the corners Mitchell was able to keep control of the puck and limit BCHs scoring chances.

Andreas Harmer and Hayden Beuermann shared net duties throughout the series and playoffs and stood strong against all their opponents to keep the boys close in every match.  With strong coaching and encouragement from the bench, and the boys never ending desire to win they were able to cap off a wonderful season and bring home the championship.  Way to go boys, you truly showed the meaning of hard work and the rewards that come with it.
