Keep your heads held high!
The Mitchell Meteors took a road trip to Stirling this weekend to continue the OMHA Finals.  This meant a fun and action packed Saturday/Sunday was in store for them.

Saturday's game was a different pace than Friday's with Stirling pouring on the pressure from the start and getting a 2 goal lead in the first and then added to it in the second to take a 3 goal lead into the third.  Duncan was solid in net yet again and made some great saves to keep them in the game.  Try as they might, the Meteors couldn't find a way to get the rubber past the Blues goalie and Mitchell would find themselves goal-less over 6 periods of hockey and down by 4 points heading into Sunday's matchup.

A night at the hotel would help the boys forget their 2nd loss in a row and keep their minds off of the pressure they would be taking into Sunday's game knowing that they would need at least a tie to bring the series home to Mitchell for game #4.

After a fun night of swimming, eating hotel snacks, staying up to play mini sticks in a modified room and watching Stirling qualify for Hockeyville's top 5, the boys would come out flying and finally scored their first goal less than one minute in to the game.  Murray let one rip high into the top left corner (assists credited to MacLean and Dietz) to prove that the Meteors had a chance to compete with the Blues.  Yet again, Duncan worked his magic between the pipes matching his opposing keeper save for save.  While the fans kept their fingers crossed thinking that this lead was the break the boys needed to boost them, Stirling responded before the period could end and tie things up going into the second period.

Try as they might, Mitchell just couldn't get that second goal to go ahead.  While they were handed a full two minute 5 on 3, they successfully defended it for the full 2 minutes, but before the two extra players could get back into the play, the Blues banged one in and went up yet again.  More penalty trouble sent the boys scrambling, but they continued to work well without any results to show for it.  In the end Stirling would get their insurance goal for a 3-1 win giving them the 6 points needed to capture the OMHA Final Championship.

While the boys go home without the Championship Trophy, they do go home as Finalists and should be very proud of their accomplishments.  Keep your chins up, heads high and a smile on your faces boys!  You made us all proud and should be proud of yourselves!

Thanks also goes to our boys' coaching Staff consisting of Troy, Kevin, Kyle & Bentley

The boys now take a couple weeks off and will finish up in a year end tournament in Elmvale at the end of March.

Good luck there boys!
