The Mitchell Meteors faced the West Huron Wave Friday night at the Mitchell arena. Elysha Vorstenbosch opened the scoring in the game at the minute-ten mark with a feed from Bre Schoonderwoerd and Rachael Stephan. West Huron quickly responded with their own goal 20 seconds later. Vorstenbosch scored her second goal 1 minute later, assisted by Allison Zimmerman and Stephan. Schoonderwoerd then added her own goal unassisted to bring the Meteors ahead by 2. In the second period,Olivia Boyce scored with help from Schoonderwoerd and Makayla Meinen. The 3rd period brought frustration and several penalties.The Meteors played strong hockey and killed off their penalties, not allowing their opponent to score. Strong play by Julia Cairns in the net helped with the win. With the win, the Meteors record stands at 5-3-4 with 13 points and a second place record in their division of LLFHL. The Meteors next action comes at the Stratford Aces tournament Nov 21&22 where they will face the Ancaster Avalanche, Stratford Aces, Lucan Irish and Bluewater.
